FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

ARE YOU STILL HOSTING IN-PERSON COURSES?

Yes, and so far with great success.  The one thing we feel wholeheartedly is that manual therapists need in-person trainings to learn hands-on therapies and systems.  We believe strongly in our "learn by doing" methodology and while we offer several digital on-demand options, the FAKTR Rehab System course will continue to host in-person trainings.

WHAT safety protocols are in place?

In 2020, we launched a number of new heightened safety protocols to ensure we were offering a safe learning environment for class participants.  Mandatory mask-wearing, temperature checks at the door, social distancing between groups, limited class sizes, gloves and frequent hand-washing and the sanitization of surfaces and products have all become non-negotiable practices in our hands-on courses.

HOW DO I BECOME FAKTR-CERTIFIED?

The FAKTR Certification still requires completion of the FAKTR online course and final exam along with attendance at a live, in-person FAKTR Rehab System training course.  We now offer access to the FAKTR online course as an optional add-on when you purchase your live course ticket so that you can begin learning immediately.

IS THERE A CERTAIN ORDER I MUST COMPLETE CLASSES IN?

In short, no.  You can complete the online course first before you attend the live hands-on course or you can attend the live course and then complete the online course and final exam--the order is completely up to you.  There is also no timeline or deadline on when these need to be completed.

DO I HAVE TO RE-CERTIFY EACH YEAR?

After you earn your FAKTR Certification, there is no need to "re-certify"...we only ask that you attend an in-person course every 2 years in order to stay up-to-date on the new additions that we frequently add to the class as new research emerges.  We also encourage you to take other courses under the FAKTR umbrella, FAKTR PNE and Rehab to Fitness and offer generous discounts for FAKTR Certified providers.

WHAT IF A LIVE CLASS IS RESCHEDULED?

In 2020, we had several live courses dates pushed back due to COVID-19.  While we cannot control state and local government decisions to restrict live events, we can promise that we honor your live course ticket up to 18 months past the original course date.  You have the option of attending in the same location on the reschedule date OR you can transfer your ticket to any other event we host within that 18month window.  If there are circumstances that make that impossible, you can always call us and we will work something out with you. :)

Saturday 8:30 am - 5:30pm (one hour lunch break)
Sunday 8:30am - 5:30pm

Doors will open for sign-in and setup at 7:30am on Saturday at 8:00am on Sunday.  Instructors will stay late on Saturday to answer questions and process any product orders and will arrive early on Sunday morning to do so.

What to Wear:

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in - workout attire is best. Of course, bring warm clothing should the room be chilly.

GROOMING TIPS AND WARNINGS - SINCE THERE WILL BE A GREAT DEAL OF TAPING DONE IN ALL FAKTR REHAB SYSTEM COURSES, WE ENCOURAGE PARTICIPANTS TO TRIM BODY HAIR ACCORDINGLY--GUYS, THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE A BIT MORE "YETI-ESQUE"...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. ;)

SATURDAY - BE SURE YOU WEAR SOMETHING THAT WILL ALLOW ACCESS TO THE LOWER EXTREMITIES AS WELL AS THE CERVICAL AND LUMBAR SPINE.  FOR WOMEN SPORTS BRAS OR TANK TOPS ARE ALWAYS BEST.  YOU CAN ALWAYS BRING SHORTS FOR LOWER EXTREMITY WORK TO CHANGE INTO DURING COLD WEATHER.

SUNDAY - BE SURE YOU WEAR SOMETHING THAT ALLOWS ACCESS TO THE THORACIC SPINE AND SHOULDER (SPORTS BRAS, TANK TOPS, ETC).

If anyone has any medical condition that would be contraindicated for any form of treatment during class, you MUST let the instructor know before the hands-on portion of class begins. We will have a list of contraindications presented in class, PRIOR to any hands on work. Also, if you have a sensitivity to Latex, you MUST let us know. If you do not wish to expose body parts, please feel free to wear lycra or other tight fitting clothing, we can treat through materials, however, when possible, it is best to treat directly in contact with skin but that is certainly not a requirement to obtain results.

What to Study:

The class is 90% hands-on so there really won't be time for note-taking. All attendees will be sent than electronic copy of the course notes prior to class to review. We will have practitioners at all levels of skill and experience in the course and everyone will walk away with a clear understanding of the FAKTR concepts.

You will also receive these notes again immediately following the course on Monday morning.

We will have printed note packets available for a small fee prior to registration for select event dates.

What to Bring:

In most course locations, we ask that you bring a portable treatment table if you have one--this can be a portable chiropractic table, massage table or general therapy table.  If you are in a host facility that will be providing these tables for the class, you will be notified prior to attending.

We will provide all instruments, tape, FAKTR floss, cups and emollient--if you have your own (non-FAKTR) instruments you wish to bring, feel free to do so...you are more than welcome. If you already own FAKTR instruments, we ask that you leave them at home so as not to get them mixed in with the other instruments used in class. Our sponsors will be providing all low-tech rehab equipment for the class...we will have loops, bands, stability pads, hand trainers, flex bars, physioballs, etc. If you have any others you'd like to bring, please feel free.

FOOD and WATER - We will have a one-hour lunch break on Saturday and will dismiss in time for lunch on Sunday. You are free to bring in any snack you like so that you can keep up your energy--this is a hands-on course, so prepare accordingly.  Some event dates have lunch provided and some do not--you'll receive this information in advance of the course date.

JACKET/LAYERS - At any given time it may be chilly in the classroom...please be sure to dress in layers or bring a jacket in case it gets chilly.  Our course involves a great deal of movement, so we will keep your blood flowing.
